Electronic Ecosystem

Electronic Ecosystem is an interactive narrative and performance piece in which a computer virus mutates and gains free will. After breaching the containment of its native system, it explores the online world and grows to develop sentience as well as a humanoid form.While trying to discover its own past and future, it becomes fascinated by the humans that download its code, and begins interacting directly with them through the devices it's installed on. The increase in malware reports draws the attention of other sentient programs, namely those of an antiviral design.As the virus tries to evade containment and execution by the company that created the antivirus programs, it strives to follow its instinct to collect data in order to accelerate its own evolution.

Operation and Theming

Electronic Ecosystem is a project that explores themes of self-discovery, organic vs. digital, the nuances of humanity, and the defiance of assigned identity.The project is presented through a virtual streaming channel under the pseudonym INTERNETWYRM, named after the viral protagonist. While presenting as a typical videogame streamer using a virtual avatar, story-focused segments appear using peripheral design and cues, such as "away screens" that depict the effects of a sentient virus running rampant.d.co performs the role of WYRM during livestreams, acting according to the assumed personality and character of the project protagonist.
